Vampire bats are nocturnal, roosting in caves during the daytime. The three species of vampire bats are found from Mexico to South America. As their name indicates, they feed at night on the blood of other animals, primarily birds and mammals. The saliva of vampire bats has been modified as a heart drug for humans.
